1. International Student welcome
• Airport reception
|
ALACC provides an airport pick-up service free of cost for International students when they first arrive. This service will drop you to the address specified by you at the time of your booking. To organise your free pick up, please email your flight details and address where you need to be dropped to int.lo@agedcare.net.au. Please remember that you are required to give a minimum of 30 day notice to avail the free service as we require ample time to ensure that accurate arrangements are made for you. If you have'nt been able to conform for your airport pickup prior to 30 days of your arrival or you have had a last minute change of plan, you are required to make alternate pick up arrangements. |
Some of the other options available to you are:
SKYBUS
The Skybus is a special bus service that runs between Melbourne CBD (Central Business District) and Melbourne/ Tullamarine Airport . It leaves from the domestic and international terminals and costs about AUD$15. Please refer to the www.skybus.com.au for timetable and more information.
TAXIS
All Melbourne taxis are yellow and are available at each terminal. Taxi fares to the CBD from Melbourne Airport cost approximately AUD$50 to AUD$60. Additional charges may apply for taxis waiting at the airport taxi rank, or those that commute to their destination via tollways.
• Accommodation arrangement
If you unable to arrange accommodation for yourself prior to your departure from your home country, ALACC can assist in booking temporary accommodation for three days on your behalf. We would like to clarify that while ALACC does not charge anything for this service, you would be required to pay the applicable room rent. To organise this, please email your intentions to int.lo@agedcare.net.au. You will receive an application form, which asks information on your budget, preferences and so on. Ensure that you fill out this application form and email back to us before 30 days of your date of arrival to enable us to make accurate arrangements for you.
|

|
Alternatively, below is a list of websites through which you could arrange temporary accommodation. However, please remember that ALACC does not endorse or approve any of the services provided by these sites. We recommend that students make their own enquiries about the products and services offered by any of these websites.

• Public transport schedules
|
As a part of making your arrival and stay as comfortable as possible, during orientation and induction, we provide you with Public transport schedules for trains, trams and buses that travel to our campuses. |
• Cultural adjustment counseling
Moving to a new country can often be more difficult than one can imagine. Besides, having more complex tasks such as getting an accommodation, finding a job and so on, there are many cases where students find it extremely difficult to adjust and adapt to a new culture.
As a student of ALACC, we work towards making your student life a wonderful experience. If you feel that you need to talk about anything, please contact the reception to arrange a meeting for you with our counselor.
