Graduation Ceremony May 2010

7th June 2010

ALACC is proud to announce that it held its first Graduation Ceremony on the 14th May 2010, for the International student who successfully completed their Diploma of Community Welfare Work. The ceremony had a large turn out that included the Guest of Honour, graduand’s friends and relatives, staff, current students and friends of ALACC.

It was a two hour event and started with the Welcome address by Parul Jain the Marketing Co-ordinator of the college. During her note she stressed on the importance of this ceremony being the starting point of the graduands’ lives. Following this Mrs. Nikita Gupta – International Admin Officer welcomed the dignitaries on behalf of the staff and students of ALACC by presenting a token of appreciation to them. This was followed by Mrs. Janet Lawrence – CEO/Director of Studies address to the students. In her speech, Janet not only reiterated the significance of setting goals but also constantly evaluating them in order to be aware of one’s progress towards achieving these goals. She used examples from her personal and professional life to make the graduating students realise that anyone can go off-track due to external influences but it is imperative to not give up and pick up where one has left off while pursuing these goals. This was followed by the Guest of Honour – Mrs. Carol Robson’s address who is a Graduate of Melbourne University and lectured for 25 years at various universities. Janet and Carol go a long way and, Carol’s contribution in developing ALACC during its initial days is immense. Carol spoke of her life’s experiences to make students understand the magnitude of the qualities of perseverance and patience in achieving these goals. This was followed by a speech delivered by one of the Graduands – Mr. Anasmon Cheeran Kulangara, who spoke of his experiences as an international student and more as he was a displaced student from another international college.  Anasmon thanked the staff of ALACC for all the support given to him during his tenure as a student. In Anasmon’s own words the following is his reflection about his experience with the college: “I am extremely happy and proud to be part of Australasian Lawrence Aged Care College.  The staff are approachable and tentative to the needs of students.  ALACC is a stepping stone for students to move on to further studies.  I thank ALACC from the depth of my soul for the support provided to me which helped me to successfully complete my Diploma of Community Welfare Course”.

Each Graduand was then honoured with a certificate and plaque to mark the occasion. The ceremony ended with Dr. Priyank Gupta – International Student Liaison Officer delivering the closing statement. During his speech, he thanked the students for choosing ALACC and giving the staff an opportunity to play a role in the student’s professional and personal development. This was followed by high tea organised by ALACC where the guests, dignitaries, staff, current students and the fresh graduates celebrated the graduates’ achievement in an informal manner. To access the Photo’s of the event, please CLICK HERE or log on to ALACC’s facebook page.

Once again, ALACC would like to congratulate all the Graduates and thank everyone present at the ceremony for being a part of it. Additionally, ALACC would also like to thank Mr. Ronin Buick. The event would not have been successful without his dedication towards organising it and the staff participation.
