Janet Lawrence

Janet Lawrence is a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing for over 21 years. She has both national and international experience in nursing over the past 35 years (22 years in Aged Care and 14 Years in Acute Nursing). Janet is an Aged Care Consultant and has been involved in over 45 Aged Care facilities. She is not only the CEO/Director of Studies of ALACC but is also a Director of Nursing.
Janet has held a position as Director of Nursing for several aged care facilities for many years. She currently holds the Director of Nursing position for a Residential Aged Care facility in Melbourne, Australia. |
Janet who believes in empowering people through knowledge holds herself the following qualifications:
- Master of Health Sciences Nursing (Gerontology);
- Graduate Diploma Health Administration;
- Graduate Diploma in Gerontological Nursing;
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Advanced Nursing) major Nursing Administration;
- Diploma of Business;
- Certificate 1V in Training and Assessment
- Diploma of Nursing Education; Certificate in Ward Management;
- Other qualifications and positions such as:
- Member of the Commonwealth Panel of Administrators and Advisers, Australia
- External Quality Assessor
- Nurse Educator
- Nurse Consultant
Janet has received recognition for her professional contribution to Aged Care. She has implemented and reviewed the Quality Management systems that she develops in her capacity as the Director of Nursing in Residential Aged Care facilities. She has a passion for Aged Care and advocates and encourages high standards of care for the older person in residential aged care facilities.
She has won awards and recognition for providing high standard of care both abroad and in Australia. She received a certificate of nomination for Professional Development from the Health Minister in 2005, and certificate of nomination for encouraging Cultural Diversity at the workplace in 2006. Janet has received letters of appreciation for her work in the Aged Care Industry from the former Federal Minister for Aged Care in 2005.
Janet’s career objective is to continue to provide education and support to local and international students as well as staff working in Aged and Community Care. She enjoys preparing both young and mature aged students to care for the elderly through her commitment to training and assessment. She encourages independent decision making and confidence in one’s approach towards life.
Janet is currently undertaking her Doctor of Philosophy studies in the area of “Attrition rates and leadership for Director’s of Nursing in Residential Aged care facilities” from Victoria University, Faculty of Engineering & Health Services.
